Scrolling tabs, count-ins and clear shape diagrams guide you through the exercises and positions. Pause when you need to.

A note from Jon

Clean playing first.
Speed comes from there.

You don’t need to race through these routines. Choose a tempo where you can hear every note and stay relaxed. That’s where the useful work happens.

I do a lot of my own technique practice at 60 to 80 BPM. Adjust the tempo to the exercise and subdivision, and give yourself time to play it properly.

JON BJORK

Relaxed

Notice tension, take a moment and reset. Keep the movement comfortable.

Accurate

Listen for even notes and a clean connection between your hands.

Tone

Practise with the sound you want to hear in your music. Make every note count.

What level is this for?

You should be comfortable reading tab and playing slowly with a metronome. Set the tempo to suit your level. Experienced players can use the same routines to work on consistency, control and unfamiliar shapes.

Can I change the key and tempo?

You can adjust the tempo and subdivisions. Chops Builders offer all twelve keys. The alternate picking and legato Chops Builders also offer major/natural minor, harmonic minor and melodic minor. Available settings depend on the workout. Practice Room Sessions have suggested round settings that you can adjust.

Does the app listen to or grade my playing?

No. It plays the routine and keeps track of your practice sessions. You listen to your playing and decide when you’re ready to move on.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Your licence allows up to five browser or device activations. Progress is stored locally in each browser. Export a backup from one and import it into the other to bring your practice history with you.

Is this included in The Practice Room?

Yes. Practice Room and Practice Room Pro members already have these workouts inside Practice Lab. Open Workouts there. You don’t need to subscribe again.

What if I already own the Ultimate Picking Workout?

You keep the workout you bought. This subscription gives you access to the broader workout library and new additions while you’re subscribed.
