Part 4: Picking Hand Focus

The purpose of this final exercise is to help you refine your picking technique by finding the most efficient and reliable path for your picking hand.

We'll be using the Planting practice tool here, and if you follow the instructions closely, this will be much easier than it sounds. The whole idea is to train precision and control, one note at a time.

🟠 Watch the video lesson before you start. That's where I break everything down and show you exactly how to do it. If you want a deeper understanding of how and why this works, watch the Planting help video at the end of this lesson.

A few final notes:

  • This wraps up the full routine.
  • If you follow the outlined tempos (and you should), the whole thing will take 25 to 30 minutes per day.
  • Stick with this for at least a full week before changing anything.
  • If you're watching this months from now, don't stress about keeping up. The point of this deep dive is to build clarity, confidence, and control, not to rush through it.

This module lays a foundation that will overhaul your picking technique and lock in your scale shapes across the neck. Let it take the time it needs, and focus on accuracy over everything else.
